There are two ways to purchase this feed: as freeze-dried mealworms or live mealworms. (Yum) This food option is easy to buy, as mealworms are readily available and sold as pet food and fish bait. If there is a really bad smell it is probably because there are some dead worms (black) but it usually takes quite a few to do this. Bluebirds enjoy snacking on mealworms, which are actually darkling beetle larvae. Julie, I only have one fridge, also, and do not have any trouble with odor.
